The WSE (GPW), NewConnect, funds and KNF supervision: how the Polish capital market works.

Introduction
The Warsaw Stock Exchange has operated since 1991 and is the largest capital market in Central and Eastern Europe. The market is supervised by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF).

How it works
- the WSE main market with the WIG, WIG20, mWIG40 and sWIG80 indices
- NewConnect for smaller and younger companies
- Catalyst for bonds
- investment funds, private equity and venture capital finance companies outside the stock exchange
Why it matters and what is important
For a foreign investor, the Polish market offers access to companies in a growing economy. Before making an equity investment in a company, it is worth reviewing its documents, ownership structure and contracts with key customers.
