Common courts, administrative courts and arbitration. Where company cases end up.

Introduction
Polish common courts have three tiers: district, regional and appeal courts. The highest court is the Supreme Court. Decisions of authorities are appealed to the administrative courts (WSA and NSA).

How it works
- disputes between businesses are heard by the commercial divisions of the courts
- the KRS register is kept by the district courts
- disputes can be referred to arbitration, e.g. the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce
- the Constitutional Tribunal reviews the conformity of statutes with the Constitution
Why it matters and what is important
The jurisdiction or arbitration clause in a contract determines where and how quickly a dispute will be resolved. It is worth agreeing it at signing, not when a conflict arises.
